Current Projects

Australian Sustainable School Initiative, Vic (AuSSI,Vic) Training Resource Development
The VAEE is currently working with partners on a project called "Resource Development to Support AuSSI, Vic". This project is the first step in rolling out the AuSSI, Vic program across schools in Victoria. The project partners, CERES Enviornmental Park, NCS Swinburne and La Trobe University will develop three linked resources and training packages that will build the capacity of enable environmental sustainability educators and teachers to facilitate AuSSI, Vic. These resources are:

  • A targeted training program for community, business, Government and Statutory body agencies, to empower them to be state-wide facilitators for the AuSSI, Vic in Victorian Schools.
  • A specific training program for pre-service teachers, to inform next generation of teachers about AuSSI, Vic.
  • Checklist for Schools, that will be used as part of their school plan review process, to assess their effectiveness in education for a sustainable environment.

How can you get involved?

With a commitment to building a community of sustainability facilitators, collaboration and participation are central to our approach. Two working groups (WG) will be set up to support the project team in the initial development of draft resources. (WG: Facilitator Package; WG: Pre-service Package) These resources will then go through an open consultation process. You can get involved by:

  • Being a part of a WG. Individuals are needed to be a part of the WG. The role of the fully budgeted WGs is to be critical friends for the project partners, inform initial content and help plan and run consultation forums.
  • Attend one of the consultation forums or get online and give us your feedback in the consultation phase.
  • Speaking to any of the organisations involved in the project to input your thoughts and ideas.

The Guide beside

2008 Guide Beside Workshop Program

“Be a Guide Beside, Rather Than a Sage on Stage”

•  Do you want to learn to become better at facilitating learning & change for sustainability?

•  Do you want to learn more effective ways to apply strategic planning to your programs?

•  Do you want to develop partnerships and collaborations that help build capacity and bring resources to your programs?

•  Do you want to understand what evaluation is really all about, and how to develop evaluation to meet the needs of your programs and your key stakeholders?

Over the next few months, VAEE will host four day-length Guide Beside workshops, based on the outcomes of four years of consultation and collaborative work with sustainability educators, facilitators and trainers across Victoria and Australia .

In these workshops, we will not be ‘telling you how to do it'.
