VAEE Mission / Vision / Core Services & Programs

 

Our Vision: To improve the environment and create a sustainable future through education.

The Victorian Association for Environmental Education (VAEE) promotes and supports the development of environmental education in schools and the community through its own initiatives and by encouraging and supporting individuals and groups whose goals and approaches are consistent with its own.

Through environmental education, VAEE aims to help individuals develop awareness and an understanding of:

•  the total environment

•  environmentally responsible attitudes and skills

•  a commitment to take effective action to meet environmental needs

Our Mission: To promote environmental education through advocacy, partnership and professional support.

The VAEE's mission is to empower the community to become educated about our world's environmental systems and our impact on them. VAEE achieves this by -

•  Actively contributing to and providing support for Environmental Educators and education programs

•  Promoting environmental education through advocacy, partnerships and professional support

•  Encouraging sustainable futures for the community

 

VAEE is offerung the following Core Services & Programs:

•  Professional development to environmental educators in schools, collages and the community

•  Development and management of resource materials (environmental education publications)

•  Distribution of a tri-annual, Eingana

•  Special support for VCE teachers

•  Distribution of a monthly newsletter, Environmental Events

•  Delivery of high profile environmental themed conferences

•  Management of the Victorian environmental education contacts directory

•  Involvement and influencing environmental education policy development in Victoria

•  Lobbying of both Local and State Government on environmental education issues

•  Effective involvement in Non Government Organisation (NGO) partnerships


VAEE Council

The VAEE is overseen by a voluntary council of elected members with expertise and knowledge from varying parts of the sector. Council members include teachers and educational professionals from schools, community and business with all sharing an interest in environmental and sustainability education.
