Stage 3 - 2007 The Guide Beside (GB) project has now been through two stages of development: Stage 1 in 2005/2006 brought together the most up-to-date resources and approaches into a working collection. These were then piloted in Stage two of the project in late 2006. In 2007, the third stage of the GB project will bring these together to develop and pilot practical working materials and actions that will support and extend the face-to-face workshops, forums and collaborative learning groups that form the basis of the GB approach. Project Duration for Stage 3: February - July 2007 Objectives To provide 'GB' professional development for facilitators of sustainability, which introduces and extends ways of facilitating in collaborative and transformative ways, and gains feedback on GB approaches that can inform future development. Specific objectives: 1. To present a series of workshops on key aspects of the GB approach to sustainability facilitation, covering: facilitating, planning, evaluating & implementation projects and programs. 2. To organise supporting material for GB workshop into an easy access formats. 3. To create the first stage of on-line GB access to resources and collaborative communication. 4. To identify specific opportunities for collaborative learning groups, as in the original GB Stage 3-4 proposal, and to set up and evaluate at least two collaborative learning groups. Methodology 1. Set up a reference working group, drawn from the previous working group, and other experienced sustainability program facilitators, who have been extensively involved in the GB project to date, to guide development of accessible GB materials and resources. 2. Facilitate at least one GB round-table to provide information on the GB processes and outcomes to date, and seek feedback on most effective approaches to GB professional development and most effective and accessible organisation of information. 3. Present a series of three workshops, covering specific aspects of the GB approach (facilitating, evaluating, planning & implementing), each of which will address approaches to facilitation and network building, and each of which will identify opportunities, approaches and issues for developing collaborative learning groups. Outcomes 1. A set of printed resources for those wanting to extend professional development for sustainability facilitators using collaborative, transformative learning and change (the GB approach). 2. A website within the VAEE website which will make available to sustainability facilitators the materials and resources developed during Stage 3. 3. A report on the outcomes of the workshops, roundtable forum and pilot collaborative learning groups. 4. Recommendations for future development and implementation of collaborative, transformative style professional development for sustainability facilitators.
