Abstract submission:  Information for papers, interactive workshops and roundtable discussions

Before commencing your abstract submission

  • Abstracts submitted for presentation will be published exactly as received and should be checked for spelling and grammar prior to submission.

  • The person submitting the information must be one of the presenters.
  • Where there is more than one presenter all correspondence will be sent to the person who submitted the abstract.
  • If you are submitting more than one abstract, a separate submission must be made for each one.
  • When completing the online Abstract Information Page the presenting authors must indicate the preferred method of presentation.
  • The Conference Papers Committee (CPC) will be responsible for evaluating abstracts.
  • Every effort will be made to accommodate the author's/authors' presentation preference, however the CPC reserves the right to allocate the presentation to best suit the program.

Academics and researchers are invited to submit papers that exemplify and enable courage to take the next step on our Environmental Education / Education for Sustainability (EfS) journey.

Publishing Presentations

Presenters are offered three options if they wish to have their work published as part of the conference:

  1. Submission to the Australian Journal for Environmental Education – you will need to contact the editor via the National AAEE website and it will be subject to that review process.
  2. Conference Proceedings - articles for peer review can be submitted and subjected to review by a select editorial committee, and will be published and made available as an online resource after the conference.
  3. Conference Presentations – presentations of non-peer reviewed articles, stories and PowerPoints will be collated and made available as an online resource after the conference.

Content and Format

Please complete the abstract template, which will assist you in formatting, structuring and naming your abstract correctly. Authors unable to submit online should contact the Conference Secretariat to make alternative arrangements.

Please choose which of the following presentation forms best suits your material:

1. Formal paper presentation 30 minutes or 45 minutes
2. Interactive workshop session A Small group of 30 (max), duration 90 minutes
3. Interactive workshop session  B Large group of 55 (max), duration 90 minutes
4. Roundtable presentation 30 minutes. Roundtable sessions are structured discussions led by you around your presentation. They will run concurrently in a large area with approximately 10 participants per table. Participants self-select which tables they join. As a rough guide for the roundtable presentations: present 10 mins, 20 mins facilitated discussion with your table. It is recommended that this format is not suitable for Power Point. Handouts and props are encouraged

Presenters can opt for peer review of their paper by submitting it for consideration of publication in the Australian Journal of Environmental Education (AJEE) which is now published by Cambridge University Press. Conference papers will form the basis of a Special Issue based on the Conference’s theme - Creating Our Next Courageous Steps.
